It is great that they have done this. All other states should do the same. If you "force" people to take health care, then you are in direct violation of the Constitution. The life, LIBERTY, and the persuit of happiness. This takes away peoples liberty to choose for themselves if they want it or not. And in fact penalizes them for not having ins... Sounds like a big win for the insurace companies if this passes. They get a lot of new customers, forced of course. But they don't care the gov. will be footing the bill.

Dan
It would be unconstitutional to require people to have healthcare. The only way it would even compare to car insure is if you getting sick or injured somehow effected someone else. That is why it is required. Its not for the benefit of the driver, butthe people they might injure in a wreck. I went many years without insurance when it was available to me, but I CHOSE not to have it. And if I needed health care then I just paid for it.

Why Not?
Why shouldn't everyone be required to have health care? Regardless of how you feel about the rest of the bill, making it a requirement to own health care will be beneficial to all. If someone is uninsured and has to go to the hospital the American people pick up the tab. This would make everyone accountable for themselves similarly to car insurance. People complain about the cost of health care in the country, but having to pay for the uninsured to get care is a huge portion of that.
